A thesis conclusion should also make an impact on the reader, much like the introduction. As writing the conclusion is the last part of your study that they will see, a good ending is most likely to leave a lasting impression.

In general, an effective conclusion summarizes what you have written, pointing out the key points, and explaining to the reader what your work entails and how it contributes to the field. 

The following format could be used when writing the conclusion to your thesis:

1. Provide a short summary of research statement

In this section of the conclusion, you should simply restate the thesis statement (preferably at the beginning of your conclusion). It doesn’t mean merely copying and pasting it from the introduction, but rather changing the words. In other words, you should rephrase it in a way that is slightly different from the thesis statement presented in the introduction and does not sound repetitive. 

During the conclusion, it should make it clear that the reader has reached the end while addressing all the same elements as the thesis. Your conclusion tells the reader what you learned from your research and what conclusions you reached.

2. Emphasize the main points of your work

Next, we should take a look at the thesis as a whole. Take note of the key ideas in your project. Similarly, you can rephrase these ideas in the conclusion in the same way you rephrased your thesis statement. In addition, conclusions can include recommendations to the reader or questions that further the argument. Consider what kind of response you would like to see from your readers after they’ve read your paper. Is your paper attempting to raise awareness of a larger issue?

Also, try to reference your introduction in your conclusion. By restating your argument, you have already taken the first step. You should now look for other words, phrases, or ideas from your introduction that can be incorporated into your conclusion. In this way, the introduction and conclusion can be connected so that the reader feels satisfied.

3. Explain why the work you’ve done is important and relevant

Ensure that you include the societal implications of your work and demonstrate its positive impact.

Don’t leave any loose ends in your writing, even if you encourage readers to think critically about the topic. Ensure that your conclusion concludes your argument and provides a sense of resolution. Explain how your thesis relates to your field of study and how you intervene in existing scholarly debates or substantially revise them.

4. Make a recommendation / A call to action or future direction

Ensure your conclusion is memorable by asking a question, making a suggestion, or calling for action. You can also hint at future research or talk about how the problem or idea you discussed remains relevant. At the end of your conclusion, you want readers to feel more informed, or more prepared to take action.

Despite making recommendations for future research in the discussion, the conclusion is a good place to elaborate and think about the implications of your findings for theory and practice.
